The sensation of the sea cannot be felt until we dive into its waters, and the same happens with art. Understanding the pure, naive and poetic language of a shape took me years of work, it was like pulling the petals off a daisy one by one until reaching its heart.
This series, The Poem of Shapes, is characterized by the use of white. Although this color would seem to be the background, it has been conceived as an active and essential part of each shape. This series contains passion for the natural, simple and deprived character of the created sign, which emerges from a natural and joyful play.
One of the things that I am captivated by is graphism. The simple mark of a pencil on canvas is enough to connect me with deep aesthetic pleasure. Being totally in the present generates the intimate work atmosphere that guides me throughout the development of the series.
In this exhibition, the simplicity of the plastic arts is one of my goals. I do not think that my words are up to the challenge; maybe I should not even try to translate my actions into words. Simply, letting ourselves be guided by what the image causes in us would be ideal.
I understand that painters are essentially about the language of color, but in this austerity that I propose, I pursuit subtlety. White over white is like a whisper that cannot be silenced.
My painting is a permanent construction of symbols, is the sign of evolution, of continuous existence. It is an essential type of painting that gives birth to worlds created as a result of playful acts. In playfulness, peace, joy and freedom, I define the creation.
In my work, the sign is not created by following conventions, it is found in the inner echo where balance is sustained by passion and experience.
It could be said that words and their meanings are static, that is why my work as an artist gives me the freedom and the moral attitude that allow me to use improvisation, mutation and alchemy on an ongoing basis. If a word is the result of a stroke, and such an action generated a universal language, today’s feelings come from intuitive images in constant transformation.
Expansive and intuitive thinking guides me and frees me from the referents to enjoy the poem of shapes, which far from being nothing are a true reflection of my deepest emotions.
